Our History

The major healthcare facility in Vermilion Parish was once the Palms Hospital, which had its beginning in 1906 as the Fenwick Sanitarium. In 1910, this edifice was sold and became part hospital and part hotel. In 1966, Abbeville General Hospital was established to meet the healthcare needs of the community, and since then, we have evolved to offer a wide range of services to our patients.

Our Providers

Our medical staff includes physicians, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who are dedicated to providing personalized and high-quality care to our patients.

We are happy to welcome Pediatrician, Jude Cope, D.O., to our team. She is now seeing patients at the Abbeville General Pediatric Clinic where she will serve our community. We are also pleased to announce that Dr. Bernard Hojaili, Rheumatologist, is now seeing patients at the Maurice Community Care Clinic, providing rheumatology services for our community.
